Hi! I’m Krista Dobsinai, a Literacy and Dyslexia Specialist with a passion for helping students thrive.
Education & Training
In May 2023, I graduated from Mount St. Joseph University with a Master’s in Reading Science—one of the most respected programs in Canada and the US. I also received a Certificate in Dyslexia from the International Dyslexia Association. I completed the Orton-Gillingham Foundations and Associate Level courses, including the 100-hour practicum. I chose to focus on my master’s instead of applying for OG Associate certification. My studies also include English orthography with scholars like Dr. Gina Cooke, Dr. Peter Bowers, and Michel Rameau.
Professional Recognition
The Literally Fun Literacy Academy is the only reading remediation centre in London and surrounding areas listed on the IDA Professional Directory, a curated list that verifies each applicant’s credentials.
My Approach to Literacy
My practice focuses on students with language-based learning disabilities who struggle to read and write. I teach the how, what, and why of English orthography—without gimmicks or exceptions (there’s no magic). Students learn to read and write fully, using evidence-based, science-backed methods that adapt as research evolves.
Brain-Based & Mindfulness Strategies
I have completed Bloom Brainsmarts to understand how anxious brains function and help students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or anxiety manage stress during learning.
As a Mindfulness Educator, I integrate mindfulness techniques to help students focus, regulate emotions, and gain confidence.
Ongoing Professional Development
I continue to expand my expertise through courses such as Structured Word Inquiry, Teaching Grammar to Children with Learning Disabilities, Latin and Greek for Orthographers, and “Grammar for Grown-ups” with Dr. Gina Cooke from LEX. Every lesson is tailored to the student, combining science-based teaching with care and compassion.
